Peer Pressure vs. Keeping Up With the Joneses

This post was inspired by my friend Shawn Albright. The original question was posed in Episode 12 of Family Time Q&A Podcast.

Why do we talk to our kids and teens about “peer pressure” as something we should resist, but talk among adults about "keeping up with the Jones" and the influence of “society” as something that’s just accepted as a part of life? What’s the difference?
