Looking for Another Good Year in 2012

2011 was a good year for my family and I. We found ourselves pulling out of financial ruin with a new job as a Community Educator with the Women's Shelter of South Texas. It was the first full year since 2006 that we were current on our mortgage payment every month. Liv has had a relieved look on her face. We were able to actually put into practice the principles we learned from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University because we had consistent money coming in every month.

Some of the things I would like to see happen in 2012 includes the following:
  • Adequate life and health insurance for my family's needs. We still have to get that into play now that we are caught up on all our bills. I've gambled long enough.
  • Continue building up our emergency fund and begin putting money away for a new roof and new siding for our home.
  • Finish the remodels on our two bathrooms.
  • Complete writing of my first book. When going through many of my notes and goals from past years, I found that there has been a book idea on my heart and mind for at least three years now. It's time to make it happen.
  • I ignored my 1-year goals for the past year, so I'll reset the timeline on that goal as well.
May your year in 2012 be one filled with accomplishment of the next steps you need to take in order to make your dreams come true.

  1. I'm proud of you guys for pulling out of the debt hole and catching up on your mortgage. That's tough. I have always hated that credit scores will recover faster if a person gives up and files bankruptcy, it's like punishing someone for trying to fix things.
